You've been overtaken by your enemies, but don't worry you can always use it against their arsenal of weapons. In addition to the game's negative features, it features a poor virtual reality mode.īreaking, they fly at top speed, bumping on the bumps and not always fitting into the corners, attracted by the desire to win. Furthermore, it has the worst car dynamics for a game that has racing and driving components. The graphics appear to have been created in the early 2000s, and they move in an absurd manner. Rather than a fully-fledged game, the game appears to be in a mid-alpha stage. A struggle here is not only with your opponent, but also with the map.Īs previously stated, its implementation falls short of its innovative premise. Weapons can be used to destroy them as well as to push them off course. The game allows you to use your imagination to eliminate your opponent. However, unlike other comparable games, beating the other driver is not the only way to win. MadOut Open City is essentially a racing game. The concept is sound, but the implementation falls short of what players expect. Over 200 autos and a large arsenal of weaponry allow you to dispose of your opponent creatively. In this game, you can not only chase other automobiles but also force them out of your way. MadOut Open City combines fighting with racing in an open-world game from MadOut Games. I would still carry it but for purchasing a clearance priced mini-swiss army knife that had a USB stick. For a long time I carried a Leatherman Squirt. like keys, wallets and/or full size pocket knives. Well the could if you didn't have other things in those pockets. At about the same time the car phone guys decided to conspire to make phones that could fit in your pocket. It was nice but then the car companies decided that car keys needed remote fobs and the heads of the keys couldn't be thin and flat anymore. Long ago I carried a "full size" swiss army knife. Bawidamann knives also have quite a following, I haven't gotten my hands on one yet but they are stout knives. You might also take a look at Medford knives, a friend got a Praetorian a couple years ago and he was rather impressed with it. Still hasn't kept me from being a click or two away from ordering one a couple times though. The ZT knives are great as well, I've just personally never been a fan of their style of blade that's half as tall as it is long. They sure do look nice though.Ī ton of my friends have Sebenzas, they are a classic. I've always wanted a Chapparral, just haven't ever gotten around to it. Spyderco makes some nice knives as well, I have a Tenacious and Paramilitary 2 and they are great slim knives that almost disappear into a pocket. From my Grip to the 9050 to my 710 to a CQC7 I have never regretted any Benchmade I've ever purchased. Once it's set regular whetstones have been sufficient for me to maintain the edge. If you need to reset the bevel you'll want a diamond hone though. The S30V steel is incredible, it holds an amazing edge for a good while. The Osborne is another nice one from Benchmade, it's rather on the small side but if you're looking for a thin knife to slip into a pocket that may fit the bill. I only stopped carrying it because I finally managed to get my hands on a 710 in D2. Griptilians are great, I carried an S30V Griptilian sheepsfoot for years and loved it. I have a Spyderco Military with broken tip.so there is always that risk. $250-300 seems to be my working limit for quality vs risk. I have not yet delved off into the truly higher end knives.and don't know that I will. Other knives in the regular rotation are a Spyderco Rock Lobster, a Syderco Endura FFG, and a Spyderco Police 3. He later started building his own, and the knife is very very Spyderco like in design. Tim Wegner had a very good relationship with Spyderco, and designed several knives for them. I am currently carrying a Tim Wegner designed BladeTech Professional Hunter in S30V. Over the years, I have used the knife in my pocket to cut seatbelts, pry open windows, and even to cut open the aluminum fuselage of a crashed plane. I use my knife from mundane stuff like opening envelopes and cutting evidence tape to pretty hard use. I am a police detective, and I wear a knife daily. I have owned and carried knives from a lot of makers.but always wind up back with the boys from Golden, Colorado. I am an unabashed Spyderco guy, and 98% of the knives I won are made by them. I will carry one for a while, then another for some reason. The trend here lately seems to be toward cheaper knives, I thought I would start a thread for those who prefer slightly more high end stuff. ■ The four of them came together in the music club of their university in 1996 for Gotoh, Kita, and Yamada, ASIAN KUNG-FU GENERATION was the first band they ever formed.Īfter a while, they began to perform at the school and in the local Yokohama area. They’re known for making “Haruka Kanata”, “After Dark”, and “Rewrite” which were used in the anime Naruto, Bleach, and Fullmetal Alchemist The group consists of Goto Masafumi (vocals, guitar), Kita Kensuke (guitar, vocals), Yamada Takahiro (bass, vocals), and Ijichi Kiyoshi (drums). However the fourth album, World World World, hit the stores in early spring of 2008, and the song "After Dark" (not the Tito & Tarantula cover) made it to the opening credits of another wildly popular fantasy animé series, Bleach.ASIAN KUNG-FU GENERATION is tagged as: j-rock, japanese, rock, jrock, j-popĪSIAN KUNG-FU GENERATION is a popular Japanese rock group from Yokohama, Japan, formed in 1996. The "Ajikan" (as the fans came to call them) finally decided to take it easy, lying low for most of the 2007. "Worlds Apart" off Fan Club finally gave the band their first number one single, and after that, a tour and Nano-Mugen Festival 2, this time featuring a dozen bands. 2006 saw them back in the studio recording their third LP, Fan Club, as well as preparing Feedback File, a collection of B-sides and live tracks. AKFG spent the next year touring the country (the Re:Re Tour was sold out) and even holding their own Nano-Mugen Festival ("Nano-Infinity Festival"), which featured eight bands in the same vein. Its sales reached 600,000 copies, boosted by the fact that two tracks were featured in the credits of the highly popular animé series Fullmetal Alchemist ("Rewrite") and Naruto ("Haruka Kanata"). The band wasted no time and released a second full album Sol-fa (2004) that topped the charts for two weeks. With the ground paved by two successful singles, "Mirai No Kakera" and "Kimi To Lu Hana," it sold 250,000 copies. This was followed by the band's first LP, Kimi Tsunagi Five M (2003). Their first attempt in that direction, "Kona Yuki" off I'm Standing Here, got picked by radio, and their first Japanese-only EP, Houkai Amplifier ("Destroy Amplifier," 2003) turned out to be their breakthrough: it got rave reviews and scored in the Top 40 of the indie section of the Oricon charts. However, in the beginning the band spent several years playing local gigs and making small-label releases, known in Japan simply as "indies." The three first EPs, recorded during the course of 2000-2001 - The Time Past and I Could Not See You Again, I'm Standing Here, and a split with Caramel Man - had lyrics sung in English and broke no new ground for the band, but the experience allowed Asian Kung-Fu Generation to mature and realize they should aim for domestic listener. Soon they were joined by drummer Ijichi Kiyoshi, and this lineup proved to be stable, lasting over the course of three albums and while gearing up to release their fourth in spring 2008, not counting the many singles - important releases in Japan, where CD prices are among the highest in the world, increasing the demand for cheaper records. It was the first and, to date, the only major project for three of its members - Masafumi Gotou (lead vocals and guitar), Takahiro Yamada (bass and vocals) and Kensuke Kita (guitar and vocals). Asian Kung-Fu Generation are one of the most successful indie rock bands of Japan ("indie" standing for the genre, not the recording label), with their Weezer/punk tinged sound enjoying a popularity that even Weezer themselves hardly ever had on their side of the Pacific.ĪKFG began as a college band back in 1996 in a private university in Yokohama. Plus, because many of us-frontline workers and parents, especially-have been in survival mode, focusing on meeting our basic needs like food and sleep, we haven't been able to address our emotional well-being.Īnd it isn’t like declining cases of COVID-19 and shifting guidelines wave a magic wand and erase everything that happened to us. We’re still in a (hopefully) once-in-a-lifetime global pandemic, for one, and you can’t fully process stressful or traumatic events while they’re still happening. We may be feeling extra tired because we never had a chance to breathe or heal properly in the first place. We haven’t had a chance to process what happened. But that doesn’t make our pandemic fatigue any less valid. Without a specific source to point to, we often add an extra layer of shoulds and guilt, judging ourselves for not feeling better-particularly as restrictions continue to lift and things are starting to return to “normal.” As we look around, the reason for our feelings may be less obvious right now than it was in March 2020. There’s another reason why not knowing the triggers for our symptoms can make us feel even more taxed: Many of us believe, often incorrectly, that if we just knew the cause of our exhaustion, we could fix it. As a result, we might not even notice or respond to each relatively small stressor-an updated CDC guideline, another Zoom meeting that could have been an email, a canceled event-but eventually they accumulate, causing us to feel weighed down and tired all the time. Sometimes, as my therapist told me, we may even think we’re getting better at dealing with *gestures* all of this, but we’re actually just getting used to it physically and emotionally. Instead, our reserves are depleted and our body responds with exhaustion. Two years into the pandemic, we are way past flight-or-fight mode, which gives us energy. Here are some of the reasons why we’re all (still) so tired: We’re getting used to our new reality-and not in a good way.Ĭontinued fatigue is a typical reaction to prolonged stress (it’s even a stage in a psychological model for stress called General Adaptation Syndrome). I’m a psychiatrist and I’m feeling it too. In other words, despite restrictions being slowly lifted, pandemic fatigue is possibly the most “normal” thing about our current existence. We’re all tired, and talking about exhaustion over and over again is, well, exhausting. As they tell me their stories, I nod not only to advance the conversation but also because I’ve been experiencing a lot of the same feelings. But it’s also because many of my patients are stressing over-and feeling exhausted by-the same things: uncertainty about travel and social gatherings, trouble focusing and completing tasks, and general burnout, to name a few. Part of that is because the mental health system is broken and the pandemic has only made that more evident-the need for mental health services is high, and all of us working in the field can only do so much. Working as a psychiatrist has also been extra fatiguing. It isn’t just waking up, though, that’s become more of a challenge in these past two years. |
